I am looking at a vaction home which is about 20 years old and it is a nice chalet style house but it has a reversed configuration – it’s backside (plain with 2 windows) are on the street and the frontside is on its backyard. The owners says they built it to have a view of the woods but it looks odd. My concern is will it sell easily?
The garden is usually in the back… not close to the street, for privacy purposes. Also it’s nice to see the woods from your living room instead of viewing the cars passing the street.

Why could such a person not admit the reason why they want you to paint your own house? How quickly would you expect a negative response to that sort of social behaviour?
I can understand that your house make not help their house be appealing to a buyer and requesting help from you to sell their home.
In that situation, you don’t benefit directly, except to make your own home more attrative for your own well-being.
Ask them when they want to come paint your house and give them some acceptable colors they can choose from so that you can approve the work before they start. (Hint, this is a sarcastic answer to your neighbor so they can simply mind their own business and get away from you now instead of moving later.)

I live on the north east of England in a really nice area. We have a 4 bed detached house and want to sell it quickly without having to drop the price too much.
Are there any tactics worth using apart from using an estate agent? Like using the internet?
Any ideas welcome
Well, I’m no expert, in fact, I’m only 13, but I am very smart.
What I would do is neaten up the house. Decorate it. Make it look so attractive. It will drag the buyer’s attention. Plus, advertise in the newspaper, internet, posters, flyers, and signs.

I have a 4 bedroom detached house in a nice area of Essex.
However we have lived here for 22 years and it is in need of updating.
I had the kitchen redone 6 years ago and that is OK.
Last year we had the hall ,stairs and landing decorated as well as two of the four bedrooms.
My big problem is the downstairs loo and the bathroom upstairs.
They are so dated but it will cost a lot of money to renovate them,and I am not sure we would get our money back.
Most people never like what you have done and rip it out anyway.
I am between a rock and a hard place-any suggestions or tips would be very welcome.!
Being as how you have done up some of the rooms and really just the lower toilet and upstairs bathroom require a tidy up then I would go as follows.
Make both rooms look bright and airy, whether by cleaning paintwork or touching it up till you are happy that it is not off putting to viewers sometimes a wash down with manders sugar soap will be of benefit to the paintwork.
Time spent on the garden will entice people to view as will ordinary things like clean bright windows and tidy curtains.
Have gas fires or CH serviced as this can help when documentation can show it is okay.

Advertise that it is for sale in the newspaper, to start. Add curb appeal, by planting flowers outside, cleaning up your yard, keep it nicely mowed etc. If it looks nice on the outside interested buyers will think you have taken care of it on the inside as well. On the inside, clean off your counters. It will look like you have lots of room. Only one small appliance on your counter top. Get rid of clutter. Throw it away or donate it. Dishes have to be washed and put away. Floors have to be mopped and/or vacuumed. Clean the bathrooms until they sparkle. Bedrooms need to be organized, cleaned and beds made. All the windows need to be washed as well. There is competition out there and you want yours to look the best. Bottom line is the price. If the price is too high, you won’t get it sold. So think about what is the lowest price you can go. You only have twenty days to sell this. Good luck!

i need to sell a house quickly because i need the money and renting is out of the picture because we have had to remodel the house due to tenants abusing the house and growing pot in it and other stuff… but its in perfect shape

we had a cleaning company clean it out and then we redid all of the flooring and put new furniture in it
also our house is probably worth four times of what every other house in out area is worth because its not a very developed area alot of rundown homes and families that you don’t want to be near but there are better homes just down the road a couple of miles
whatever the market value is – drop the asking price by 10%

i’m getting divorced and need to sell quickly before the mortgage company starts to foreclose.
I really need more info, but a good Realtor will do a comparative market analysis (average price per square foot of similar homes sold in the same area over the last few months and shave a few thousand dollars off and may ask for an "as is" addendum to accompany any offers. Has the foreclosure been published yet? You will have at least 90 days (and probably 120) to close the house from the start of foreclosure. Unfortunately, you haven’t much time to negotiate. How "hot" is your market? You migh want to see if your Realtor will take a 5% listing, keeping 2% and offering 3% on the MLS. Hope this helps

I have a house in Mexico and I’m using Century 21, it’s been 7 months now with no buyer. I live in the US. What are your recommendations for the houser to be sold more quickly? Any input is greatly appreciated!
Check up on your agent, inquire as to how much advertising she is personally doing, where, how often. Get copies of it. Just because an agency is international, doesn’t mean that your house is getting exposure. Has it had many showings? if so, with no offers, the price is probably too high.
Also check if the house is in good shape when it is shown. Being far away, you need to have an agent that is willing to get the place ready to show, if you cannot be there. Good Luck.

Our loan was in a "modification" with the mortgage company and we were late on the payments. We sold one of our trucks on Friday for $1100.00 to pay the 2 months behind and today we got the letter in mail saying they were continuing foreclosure proceedings.
We called and they said we don’t make enough, but we do so they are working on something, but I have a bad feeling that they are stalling. I want to sell the house, but my boyfriend does not want to. Our home is worth more than we refinanced for, but will be hard to sell quickly. Our credit is terrible and our score is very low. What about filing for bankruptcy or trying to sell fast..before foreclosure starts again?
I don’t think we can do much to get out of the mess we’re in.
(we missed the payments because a/c broke..we live in florida and have new baby so we had to buy window units.)
As a secured creditor, your lender will not be affected by bankruptcy. the only decision the bankruptcy judge has to make is if there is enough equity left after paying the mortgage for the other creditors to fight over.
You can always reinstate the mortgage by making up the back payments.
Otherwise sell the property. The foreclosure will take many months. Use the profits to make a new start. Reduce your cost of living and repair your credit.

Well, as someone else mentioned, unfortunately the real estate market is down at the moment. However, there are always people looking to buy. If you want to sell quickly you may have to take a little bit lower price for your home. I think someone else also mentioned cleaning up your home. That’s also a good idea. If your home is nicely kept and clean it will help sell it faster. Presentation says alot. I guess your husband took a job with a company that didn’t offer to help you sell your home. You might try weichert.com to list your home with. They have a really good program, your home gets listed on about 50 different websites, tell your agent you want open houses every weekend until it sells.
